  • Study of Torsional Behaviour of Steel I Section Bonded With Fibre Reinforced Polymer Sheet Mr. S K Kamane , Dr. N K Patil

Abstract - A large number of steel structures need strengthening and retrofitting after some time, as their durability and capacity reduces over time. Conventional strengthening technique for huge steel structures relies on enlarging the original steel section by welding additional elements such as steel plates or channels. The dead load of the enlarged section becomes larger which may result in a reduction in its effectiveness and the added steel plates.

  • Effect of Replacement of Cement by Pozzocrete on Strength Parameters of Plain and Reinforced Cement Concrete Gunjagi D. A., Patil N. K.

Abstract— The demand of concrete is increasing day by day for satisfying the need of development of infrastructure facilities. It is well established fact that the production of OPC not only consumes significant amount of natural resources and energy but also releases substantial quantity of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Therefore, it is essential to find alternatives to make the concrete environment friendly.

Pozzolanas are siliceous or siliceous and aluminous material which in them possess little or no cementitious value but will chemically react, in finely divided form and in the presence of moisture, with calcium hydroxide at ordinary temperatures to form compounds possessing the cementitious properties. From the research result of laboratories on pozzocrete, it has been well established that use of pozzocrete in concrete considerably improves the strength of concrete.

  • Power System Contingency Analysis Using Artificial Neural Network Lakshmi M Shankareppagol, Santhosh Maradibanakar, Menka M Havagondi

Abstract-Maintaining power system security is one of the challenging tasks for the power system engineers. The security assessment is an essential task as it gives the knowledge about the system state in the event of a contingency. Contingency analysis technique is being widely used to predict the effect of outages like failures of equipment, transmission line etc, and to take necessary actions to keep the power system secure and reliable.

The off line analysis to predict the effect of individual contingency is a tedious task as a power system contains large number of components. Practically, only selected contingencies will lead to severe conditions in power system. The process of identifying these severe contingencies is referred as contingency selection and this can be done by calculating performance indices for each contingencies.

  • Probabilistic Approach for Sustainable Seismic Design for Performance Evaluation of Existing Buildings V.S.Patil, Desai R.M.

Abstract— Seismic event is most uncertain with respect to its occurrence, effect on structure and therefore it is always challenging to design engineers to provide safety in the design. Probabilistic approach is the recent trend adopted by the designers from developing countries which accounts various uncertainties involved in the process of seismic evaluation. This approach is an alternative to design practices which not only provides the life safety.

achieve the desired performance objectives. The present study is focused on this approach for seismic performance evaluation of existing reinforced concrete building situated in India. Seismic performance evaluation of existing RC building and retrofitting strategies has been assessed using this methodology. For the demonstration,an old reinforced concrete building situated in Indian seismic zone IV has been considered.

  • A Review on Earthen Tube Air Cooling System for Space Cooling Application Gaikwad R.S., Wagh M. M.

Abstract-A ground-coupled heat exchanger is an underground heat exchanger that can capture heat from or dissipate heat to the ground is known as the earthen tube. Thus, the earthen tube has prospect use in space cooling application and also the short-term preservation of vegetables and fruits soon after harvest. The earthen tube is often viable and economical alternative or supplement to conventional central heating or air conditioning systems.

since there are no compressors, chemical or burners, and only blowers are required to move the air. In this water is linked to the cooler at the top, thus keeping the chamber cooled. The result of the transient performance of the cooler reveals a decrease in temperature in the building or storage chamber. The different types of evaporative cooler designs under review include: earthen tube, cabinet, static, and charcoal cooling.

  • Paradigm Shift in Casting Defect Analysis and Control using Quality Control Tools and Simulation for Production of CI Casting Dr. V. A. Raikar, S. M. Ingale, T. B. Shinde

Abstract— In foundry, sand casting is the most commonly used process amongst all the available alternatives. Casting soundness in sand casting includes weight of the casting, free from cavities- pinholes or gross and other defects, physical and mechanical properties like strength and hardness etc. which could be varying within limits. The extent of conformance to specification and customer satisfaction are generally considered as basis for quality.

In most of the foundries development of new castings is done with empirical methods with probably large number of trials and consequent cost of poor quality, rejections, delays etc. This excessive rejection may have considerable adverse effect on productivity, delivery performance, customer satisfaction and employee morale. In addition, it may also reduce yield, waste valuable raw material and energy, and consume management.

  • Mesoporous Sn-SBA-15 as an Efficient Catalyst for the Synthesis of Nopol by Prins Condensation Pallavi Bhange

Abstract: A series of Sn-incorporated mesoporous silica SBA-15 samples have been synthesized with nSi/nSn ratios ranging from 80 to 10 under milder acidic conditions. An expansion of the lattice (powder XRD) and an increase in mesopore area (low temperature N2 adsorption) indicate that the hexagonal structure of the SBA-15 is maintained with no loss of long range order.
